Is your washing machine a little stinky? You may have some mould/mildew built up
Published: Jan 09, 2017
Front load washers use less water and energy which could result in mildew, mould and detergent residue buildup.
Here are 4 steps on how I clean my washing machine:
What You Need:
Spray bottle with vinegar
Vinegar (to run through the clean cycle)
Water
Rags
Scrub pad
What To Do:
(1) Clean the Rubber Gasket:
Spray the rubber gasket inside and out
With a light scouring pad scrub the inside to remove all debris. Its possible that some debris could be blocking the drainage holes
(2) Clean the Drum
Spray and wipe the inside of the drum.
(3) Clean the Detergent Dispenser Container
It can be removed for easy cleaning
Replace the dispenser container once clean
(4) Run a Clean Cycle
Add a 1/4 cup of vinegar to the laundry detergent dispenser and start a clean cycle.
If you don’t have a clean cycle on your washer use the hottest and longest cycle available.
Optional run a second rinse cycle to ensure all the vinegar is removed.
Tips:
After every wash I leave my washer door open slightly and the laundry detergent dispenser container pulled out (open) to allow air flow. This helps to dry the tub and avoid mildew build up.
I do a cleaning on mine twice per year
